ST. JOHN COMMISSION
40" x 60" mixed media on acrylic, 2010
Central Concept and Technologies Used:
A unique project stressing the material properties of plastic. The patron wanted something to divide space and resist the elements while maintaining the hand of the artist.
Abstracted female form, references to the natural world, transparency, and vibrant colors are central to the composition.
Lighting also plays a pivotal role in that the two sides compliment each other. The "water" side utilizes gouache with flowing, subtle tones, while the "land" side is more saturated and has more pronounced pigment and strokes.
